You have likely heard your accountant, lawyer or business acquaintances refer to an Estate Freeze before, but what is it?
Simply put, an Estate Freeze is a tax planning strategy used to "freeze" a shareholder's existing common share value of a company, allowing for the introduction of new common shareholders at a nominal subscription price.
